Configuration of QA Excel File

Data from the Raw Outputs

Once we've finished downloading our runs, we go into the raw_outputs folder, find our project (based on the name we gave it earlier), and open the folder for the date-time we want to look at. There we'll see the following folders:

Here we're interested in: meta_data and yearly. The data in these folders needs to be used in the appropriate QA Excel file.

Which QA Excel file to use

I say "appropriate" because there's a separate QA Excel for each country, and it gets updates at regular intervals.

tip

It's a good idea to ask the team to make sure you have the most recent version, and have them send it to you.

You can save a template of it in the general Chronos Tools folder, and keep a copy of it to do your analyses in — for safety, since it's a fairly sensitive file.

This file has many tabs inside it. We're interested in the following ones for the configuration:

  • Data_for_Graphs
  • yearly
  • meta_data
  • unique simulation titles

Steps

  1. We take all the data from the yearly excel in the raw_outputs → project folder, and copy paste it starting at cell B2.

    danger

    Be careful not to delete/touch anything in column A or row 1, since they contain formulas (we're overwriting all the previous data).

  2. We take all the data (Ctrl+A) from the meta_data file (raw_outputs → project) and copy paste it into cell A1 in the meta_data tab in the QA excel, overwriting all the previous data there.

  3. If we've done the first 2 steps correctly, the unique simulation titles tab, in column B, will show all the titles of the scenarios we've entered into the file. We copy paste "as values" whichever ones we want to check/compare into column A, starting from cell A1.

    Be careful not to touch anything in column B.

  4. Now we have the scenarios we want to check. We go to the Data_for_graphs tab, and in row 5 we'll see 4 cells with dropdown selections of the scenarios we just entered into column A in the unique simulation titles tab. We pick the combination of scenarios we want to analyze — from 1 up to a max of 4 scenarios.

    tip

    It's better to check 2 scenarios at a time for comparison, especially at the start.

  5. As long as the previous step went well, we should see the remaining tabs filled with charts and curves, depending on the configurations of the given project. An overall picture is available in the Dashboard tab, which is where we'll spend most of our time.
